Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday May Challenge

I am really enjoying the weekly challenges at Simon Says Stamp. I think its just what I need to keep my card-making mojo going!

They also have a monthly Work It Wednesday challenge which I thought I would have a go at. This month's challenge is to use a  RAINBOW.

And this is what I came up with. A great chance to get out the gelatos, and stamps of course!

Kraft + May Challenge

Sandra and her team at Kraft + have another ripper of a challenge this month. The moodboard is a beautiful mix of earthy tones - a perfect mix for a Kraft background.

Here is my layout. I had a perfect photo of my son sitting in the garden surrounded by orange and green leaves, so I took inspiration from that and used mostly those colours from the mood board, along with the denim.

Studio Fourteen40 May Challenge

I thought I'd have a go at the sketch challenge over at Studio Fourteen40. I think its the second monthly challenge they have done, and I got it done just in time!

Here is my layout.
I had this series of photos to scrap for my son's baby album, and I used the sketch for inspiration.

D'Lish Scraps May Inspiration Board

Once again this month over at D'Lish Scraps, the monthly Inspiration Board is brimming with gorgeous images and inspiration. This month's board is called Peach Kisses-

And here is my layout. I took inspiration mainly from the colour palette. I've also used the grey and white chevron pattern, and the hearts.

3 Birthday Cards

We have quite a few of my son's friends' birthdays ( including his!) over the next few weeks, so I had plenty of 4th Birthday cards to make up.

This week I found the Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp, so I thought I would incorporate that with my card designs. This week's challenge is to use stencils.

I recently bought the Memory Box 'Rings and Puddles' stencil and the Prima Marketing splatter stamps, and I couldn't wait to start playing with them as soon as I received them in the mail this week. I thought it would make such a fun kids card design.

Here are 3 cards I made.

I really like the watercolour shadow effect on the first one. I first put some ink on the plastic part of the stencil and wiped it across with a baby wipe to make stencilled watercolour shapes, then simply repositioned the stencil and 'coloured' in with a black Sharpie pen. I used different colours of Heidi Swapp Colour Shine on the splatter stamps.

The next two cards are the opposite, with coloured Heidi Swapp Colour Shine through the stencil and black ink on the stamps.

White.. With 1 May Challenge

This month's challenge at White..With 1 is such a beautiful colour - Raspberry Wine.

I don't get much of a chance to scrap 'girly' layouts, but seeing as it was Mother's Day a couple of weeks ago I thought I would do a bit of a girly layout about myself, because I'm the only girl in our household.

Here is my layout-

Scraps By Jen 500 sub challenge

To celebrate Scrapsbyjen reaching 500 subscribers on her You Tube channel she has decided to have a challenge and a giveaway.

Basically the challenge is to scraplift one of the 13 layouts she describes in this video.

The process video for the layout that I have chosen to scraplift is Process Video #7, and you can see it here

I was immediately drawn to this one because it uses the masculine colours from one of my very favourite collections, Heidi Swapp's 'September Skies'.

And this is my layout-

Off The Rails May Challenge

The May Challenge at Off the Rails is this beautiful mood palette.

I found inspiration with the colour scheme, and the 'Be Yourself" sentiment.

Here is my layout-

I made my own background by stamping different colours on the page with an egg carton.

Scrap The Boys May Challenge

This month's May Challenge at Scrap the Boys
is the epitome of a 'BOY' themed image!

My layout features this picture of my boys, but it is significant to me because it is not very often they walk along holding hands. SO CUTE!! Both my husband and I raced to get our cameras out!

Charms Creations ISD Challenge and Mid-Monthly Challenge

The Charms Creation's team has put together an awesome sketch challenge in honour of International Scrapbooking Day.

And this is my layout

Also Charm has another challenge up over on the Charm's Creations Ideas and Inspiration group on Facebook.

This is the 'Mid-Monthly' Challenge for April-May

And this is my take on it-

This was definitely a challenge for me. It took me a couple of weeks to think about how I was going to incorporate butterflies on a 'boy' layout. I really like this subtle background, for which I used gel medium through a stencil to make a resist, then used my gelatos over the top.

This turned out to be one-of-those disaster pieces, that thankfully I haven't had too many of. I had a fight with the double sided tape and lost! And then I accidentally knocked over my open bottle of mist while doing my ink splats! Having said all that, I absolutely love the outcome, which is why I persevered with it. That's the beauty of scrapbooking - you can cover your mistakes and no one would ever know!!

Thanks for looking. I hope you give both challenges a go.
