D'Lish Scraps January Mood Board Challenge

D'Lish Scraps have a very masculine mood board and co-ordinating Just Add Paper Kit this month so I couldn't resist playing along.

Here is the mood board-

And here is my layout-

I had this photo of my little nephew, and it matched perfectly to this month's Just Add Paper Kit. The 'Strike A Pose' flair and glasses elements were just perfect! As well as the colour palette of the mood board.

These kits are such good value - so many bits and pieces. Everything on this page is from the kit except the paper - I used some plain cardstock and some Cocoa Vanilla "Made Of Awesome' paper as my background.

The only other embellies I used were a Charm's Creations star, some Flutterby Designs wood veneer stars, a couple of Kaisercraft blooms, and some thread.

Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia January challenge- DT share

I am so excited to be sharing my very first layout for the
Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia Design Team.

The January challenge is a sketch challenge-

And here is my layout-

I had a few pieces of ticket ephemera that I'm glad I had a chance to use, especially because I am documenting a train trip - I clustered them together in two areas of the page.
My clusters are also made up of some book-page chipboard shapes from Burdy's Embellies.

The black foam cogs are also from Burdy's Embellies.
I've also used some flair from Flutterby Designs and Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

I hand-wrote my journalling sideways along the photo to focus the story along with the picture.

I hope you can have a go at this month's sketch challenge!

More Than Words Jan Main Challenge: 'Selfie & Personality'

I'm very excited for the launch of the new challenge blog called More Than Words. Their very first challenge comprises of the word challenge "PERSONALITY', and the creative challenge is to use a 'SELFIE'.

I hardly ever take selfies just of myself (but I do with the hubby and kids), and I certainly don't scrap them so this was a big challenge for me. Having said that I do consciously try to be in photos rather than always being the photographer.

Here is my layout-

My title "Don't Worry, Be Happy" I think is a great reflection of my personality. I am a pretty cool, calm and collected person, and working in live television production for the past 15 years you have to be able to be calm under pressure.

I also think I'm definitely an eternal optimist, and I try to not get too stressed and worry too much.

My background  of my layout is made up of some Kaisercraft "Spearmint" acrylic paint smeared on a sheet of Kaisercraft "A Touch Of Gold-Sheen" paper. I really like the little affirmations printed on this design, some things I need reminding myself of!

I have clustered some Green Tara and Kaisercraft flowers along with some Imaginarium Designs chipboard circles and some wood veneer from Heidi Swapp, Crate Paper and Shimelle. I have also scattered some tiny, raw Imaginarium Designs chipboard hearts.

The little wood veneer Studio Calico banner which reads "Work Hard and Be Nice" is also a reflection of my personality, and something I definitely strive for everyday.

Jot Magazine January Mood Board Challenge

My very first challenge layout for this year is for this GORGEOUS mood board at Jot Magazine.

Isn't it absolutely delicious! I am SO IN LOVE with this colour scheme!

As soon as I saw it on the blog I immediately went to my work space to put some ideas down.

I had an old 6x6 paper pad (Vintage Charm from Ki Memories), and a favourite photo that I had already printed out in sepia. Because all the papers were from the same 6x6 pad, this layout was literally the quickest page design I have ever done (seriously, about 5 minutes!!!) I even surprised myself because I usually keep playing around a bit and changing my mind!

Here is my layout. This is a photo of my sister and my son having some beautiful auntie/nephew smooches.

My background is made with some gelatos applied to the page with the packaging technique, followed by some stamping.

I have used a book page heart from Charm's Creations and some D'Lish Scraps flair. I have fussy cut some more of the butterflies from the patterned paper, and added some buttons and twine to my cluster.

I used the word 'LOVE' from the mood board in my title.

I continued the butterflies with some wood veneer butterflies, and I also added some cork arrows.

I kept to the 'heritage' theme with doilies, but also used some modern elements such as sequins and tiny word stickers. Some hand-written journalling finishes the page.
