Show Us Your Stuff April Challenge

This month's challenge at Show Us Your Stuff is right up my alley -

Get Creative With Stamps!

I do have quite a few boxes of stamps, and I make a point to keep using them as often as I can. This challenge was a great motivator to get all my stamps out, get messy and a have a play!

And here is my layout-

Everything on the page except for a splash of paint, some patterned paper and some embellishments are all stamped - either with paint, ink or with Versamark ink then heat-embossed.

I began by making my background with patterns stamped with paint. I also stamped various word phrases with ink. I have heat embossed some stars to contrast with the ink stamping.

For my title I stamped letters on vellum, then cut out each one individually to make tiles. I like the fact the vellum is clear so it looks like its stamped straight on to the cardstock, but with the flexibility to move them around to decide on placement.

I stamped some 'Live It Up' quotes and some stars on some white cardstock, and then fussy cut them out and stuck them to my page with foam tape as an extra embellishment.

My hand made items are a Super Star from Charm's Creations, and flair from D'Lish Scraps.

Dusty Attic April Mood Board Challenge

Today I am joining in with the April mood board challenge at Dusty Attic.

Lots of gorgeous white, lilac and teal - so pretty!

The florals and the lavender in the mood board reminded me of my Grandma's garden, and when I was 6 years old it felt like it was my very own secret garden.

My background paper is from the Shimelle 'Starshine' collection, and over the top of that I have made a feature circle theme with some Dusty Attic 'string frames' chipboard. I even used the off-cuts to continue the circles following the pattern on the paper, and to draw the eye in.

I've used lots of flowers to keep to the garden theme, and my photo subject is right in the middle of these flowers, just like exploring a secret garden.

Kraft Plus April Challenge - Entry #2

I loved this month's challenge at Kraft + so much that I was inspired to do another page. My first entry featured my boys, so this time I wanted to a page about myself.

This is the challenge-

And here is my (second) page-

I had lots of fun creating this messy background - lots of layers including stamping, stencils, washi, splatters, paper, doilies, ribbon, cheesecloth, lace, twine - all in black or white.

My title 'Just Breathe' is a reminder to me that even though I am in the middle of all the chaos in life  (represented here by the busy background), that it's important sometimes to look after yourself so you are able to look after others. Crafting is definitely something I do for 'me' time, to relax and recharge my batteries after dealing with the stresses of daily life.

I've added a few 'pretty' items in my main cluster - flowers, butterflies, pearls, fabric-covered buttons, lace. I've also used some book-page embellies from Charm's Creations and a flair from D'Lish Scraps.

Scrapbooking Top 50 April challenge - DT share

Today I am sharing my DT layout for the Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia April challenge.

This month is a sketch challenge-

And here is my layout-

I rotated the sketch 90 degrees, and used one photo of 2 people instead of 2 photos.

I made a watercolour background with some ink and the 'packaging technique'.

I've used chipboard stickers from the Maggie Holmes 'Shine' Collection, and a book page chipboard heart from Burdie's Embellies. I've also added a couple of My Mind's Eye 'My Story' brads.

I've also used a teal page runner from Charm's Creations, and some flair from D'Lish Scraps and Flutterby Designs.

I hope you can play along with this month's challenge!

Scrap The Boys April challenge - DT share

A new challenge is up at Scrap The Boys for April, and isn't it a sweet one.

Here is what I came up with for my DT layout. This is a photo of my husband carrying our eldest son on his shoulders at our local walking track.

Its quite a pretty layout, but I took the colour palette from the photo. I added the wood grain paper to continue the 'outdoorsy' theme, and also continue the stripes from the clothes they are both wearing.

I've used Heidi Swapp chipboard stickers, and ephemera from the Kaisercraft "Say Cheese' collection. The wood veneer stars are from Flutterby Designs.

I painted the Heidi Swapp 'Journey' wood veneer piece, except for the arrow part. I think it gives it an 'underlined' feel.

I've painted the Scrap FX chipboard frame, then inked the edges for definition. I like how it makes a little window into the moment.

I hope you get a chance to play along with this month's challenge!

Kraft Plus April Challenge - 'Black+White'

The challenge at Kraft + this month is a classical palette of black and white. I absolutely love this combo combined with kraft, so stylish.

Here is a look at the challenge board-

Here is my layout-

I used a brick wall stamp and also a brick wall die to keep it a masculine page, although my photos are just so sweet.

I also mixed some gesso and water and flicked it on my page for a bit of extra interest.

The cork stickers are Shimelle, and the hessian heart is from Charm's Creations.

I hand-wrote my journalling in white pen, which really co-ordinates so well on kraft.

I used a Heidi Swapp acetate word, and I used frames and a camera to keep to the theme of a photo shoot.
