Kraft Plus May Challenge

I managed to get one more challenge done for May - just in the nick of time! Where does the time go??!!
This layout is for the May challenge at Kraft +. Once again this month's challenge is so unique, its an image as inspiration.

Here is my layout. I was inspired by the mix of colours and shapes. I really like how the many colours creates a fun mood.

My boys are really starting to enjoy sitting down together and creating, and I wanted to capture those moments. They end up wearing more paint on their clothes than on paper, but I really feel that I want to encourage them to have fun and find their 'artistic sides'! This page is a real mix of shapes and colours, but I thought that represented the creative process.

I've used papers and embellishments from the March kit from Hip Kit Club. The papers are 'Just Dream' by Kim Watson, and the ephemera and cork stickers are from the Basic Grey 'Saturday Morning' collection.

More Than Words May Challenge

When I saw this month's challenge at More Than Words I knew I had to use my favourite masculine range - Kaisercraft's ' Time Machine'.

This is the challenge - use the inspiration word 'Moment' and the creative challenge is to use 'Clocks' - so versatile!

And here is my layout-

I have used papers from the "Time Machine' collection, and I have added some Carta Bella cardstock, and some other scraps. The wood veneer title is from Hip Kit Club.

I have added some Studio Calico stars, Imaginarium Designs cogs, Cocoa Vanilla Studio sticker and some Heidi Swapp chipboard hearts and arrows. I've also added an Evalicious puffy sticker and some Glitz giant rhinestones.

Scrap The Girls May Challenge

As soon as my May Hip Kit Club kit arrived I knew I wanted to use it on a 'girly' page of myself, and what better way than to play along with this month's challenge at Scrap The Girls.

The challenge this month is to use this sketch as inspiration-

And here is my layout-

For my background I used some acrylic paint mixed with string gel medium to sprinkle around the page. Once that was dry I sprayed on my favourite Aqua Kaiser Mist.

I used the Meadowbrook ephemera, Illustrated Faith chipboard stickers, and Echo Park enamel dots all from the May kit. I also added some flair from D'Lish Scraps and some Kaiser paper blooms. I just love the fresh colours of this kit, and teamed with the navy blue the colours pop even more.

Dusty Attic/Scrapbook Boutique May Challenges

I surprised myself and found some inspiration to scrap a layout with pink! I found two challenges this month which inspired me to scrap a photo of myself - something I don't do very often.

I was inspired by the mood board at Dusty Attic. The first image of the face inspired me to scrap a photo of myself, and I really liked the 'Fabulous' and 'Glamorous' themes. I was inspired by the pink, gold and black palette, and the 'bling'.

I also used the pink and gold colour palette from the text in the mood board at Scrapbook Boutique -

And here is my layout-

I've used papers and ephemera from Pink Paislee 'C'Est La Vie'. I have to admit I wouldn't usually buy pink products if I was at the shops, but I've used products that I received from my subscription to Hip Kit Club. I guess that's the beauty of kit subscriptions is that you get to play and fall in love with products that you generally wouldn't think of.

I've used some Dusty Attic 'Industrial Barbed Stars' and 'Industrial Stars' chipboard which I painted black to contrast against the soft colour palette.

I've also used some My Mind's Eye 'My Story' brads, and some Kaisercraft Collectables from the 'Botanical Odyssey' range.

Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia May Challenge - DT share

The May challenge at Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia is a tic-tac-toe colour challenge! As you can see from the DT's examples there are a lot of possibilities for this challenge!

I had lots of ideas of colour combos, but in the end I settled on the far right column of orange/teal/navy blue. This colour combo to me screamed bright and fun, so my DT layout is continuing the 'fun' theme.

My base papers are from Shimelle 'Starshine' and Elle's Studio 'Thankful'. I have even used the branding strips and off-cuts as paper strips across the page.

In my main embellishment cluster I have used a map marker from Charm's Creations, a crocheted heart from D'Lish Scraps, and various embellies from Cocoa Vanilla Studio 'Hello Sunshine' collection (one of my all time favourites).

My title 'fun selfies' is some very old Li'l Davis Designs chipboard alphas that I found in my stash, and the 'silliness' is a Heidi Swapp watercolour word. I finished off with a couple of orange striped straws for some dimension.

123 Challenge Blog May challenge

I don't know if its the wild, stormy weather we've been having lately, but I've scrapped two grungy layouts in as many days! Today's layout is for the May challenge at 123 Challenge Blog.

I've scrapped a photo of my boys doing what they love - getting messy in the backyard playing with water, dirt, and inevitably mud! Any opportunity to play outside and they gravitate towards the water and the dirt. I do love watching how they play together and have so much fun, and the mess can always be cleaned up afterwards.

Here is my layout-

I really enjoyed getting messy to create my grungy mixed media background. I gessoed my page then applied some grey gelato with the packaging technique for my base colour. I then applied some black acrylic paint through a Kaisercraft crackle stencil. My next layer was some Colour Blast colour paste in Stormy Weather through a Dusty Attic checkerplate stencil, then once that was dry I used the grey gelato again mixed with some texture paste through a different stencil.

I've used the requisite word 'great' in my title. I just love watching how my boys play so well together.

I've used the a couple of cards from the 'Super Cool' Everyday Etc set from Flutterby Designs, as well as a ticket. I have also used a Charm's Creations star, a D'Lish Scraps flair and some Studio Calico tiny word stickers.

I have added a couple of Kaisercraft die cuts - cogs in black card stock, and interlocking circles in white cardstock for some contrast.  I have also added some washi strips.

I added some ink around the edge of the page, and I double-matted my page in two different shades of grey card stock for a strong border.

I really loved getting messy and grungy with all my layers of mixed media, definitely echoing my 'messy' subject!

Jot Magazine May Mood Board Challenge

As soon as I saw this month's A-MAY-ZING mood board from Jot Magazine, I immediately thought dark, moody and grungy.

I was immediately drawn to the colour palette first and foremost, and my inspiration for my subject stemmed from the song lyric in the mood board. I have scrapped a photo of myself playing guitar.

As well as crafting, I find that music definitely lifts my spirits - another creative outlet of mine. I'm a big fan of grunge music so I thought this would be a perfect way to scrap that.

I started my grungy, messy mixed media background by gesso-ing the page then started with lines of black acrylic paint (applied with the end of a rewards card) to make big checks.

I then added a layer of grey gelato applied with the packaging technique. The next layer was navy Colour Shine applied  with a paintbrush, then another layer of Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Faded Jeans watered down to make a water colour effect.

I then added a layer of white texture paste though a stencil, then once that was dry I applied some Colour Blast colour paste in Stormy Weather through a different stencil.

To finish the background I added some navy thread, some white thread and some stamping. I also added some splatters in navy and black.

I liked how there was a tiny touch of red in the mood board, and although not in the colour palette, I felt I had to add just a tiny touch of red to my page for passion.

I finished off with more splatters, including some watered down gesso splatters, some doodling with a red pen, and a simple title.

I really love getting messy and adding layer after layer, and getting my grunge on!!

Scrap The Boys May Challenge - DT share

The start of a new month means lots of new scrappy challenges, and the challenge this month at Scrap The Boys is this awesome sketch thanks to Laura Whitaker,

And here is my DT layout for this sketch-

I used a piece of Amy Tan - Better Together "Push and Pull" paper as my main base for the page. I liked both sides of the paper, so I added a strip of the navy dot side top and bottom, and separated with some vellum just to soften the two patterns together. I added some Tim Holtz Distress Stain splatters under the embellishment clusters.

My embellishments are from Pink Paislee ( how cute is that fox from the Cedar Lane collection??!!), The Craft Store (from the Reject Shop), Pinkfresh Studio, and D'Lish Scraps.

I just love these Maggie Holmes Shine 'Doll' puffy thickers!

I hope you can have a go at the sketch challenge this month. Don't forget you can rotate it, or modify it to suit your page!
